Synopsis / Notes
LUNCH AT THE PICCADILLY is a new musical inspired by Clyde Edgerton's best-selling novel of the same name. The Los Angeles Times has said of Edgerton's work: "His ear is so good it can make your hair stand on end." That skill is the soul of the rich characters who preside over Rosehaven Convalescence Center from the well-worn rocking chairs on the front porch. There's Beatrice Satterwhite, who can tell a person's character by their shoes; Clara Cochran, who hangs her paper towels out to dry so she can re-sue them; L. Ray Flowers, a retired and cantankerous evangelist who's itching to get back into the pulpit; and Lil Olive- the new addition who brings a life-changing idea and a second chance at life to the group. Lil's nephew Carl and the staff of Rosehaven are irresistibly drawn into the "world-changing movement" that redefines religion, gives the power back to the little guy, and gives us all hope that "old" is getting younger every day! With 24 great songs by Mike Craver, and unlikely subject for a musical sings out - straight from the heart. Directed by Steve Umberger, a stellar cast continues to develop LUNCH AT THE PICCADILLY following its world premiere.
