Synopsis / Notes

From the writing team that brought you the hit Tony & the Soprano comes a romantic new musical. The Angle of the Sun, by Rachel Lampert and Larry Pressgrove, is a sassy, sexy, two-person musical comedy-drama about a woman's journey through a roller coaster of romantic entanglements and love.

Lindsey Alley plays poet and painter, Jan Frankel. Jan loves to be at one with nature, painting the landscape, and delighting in the changes in light as the sun crosses the sky each day. She intends to capture it all-not only in her art, but also in love and in life. Her relationships cover lots of territory-great, disastrous, sexy, and platonic-but, well, never "just right."

The Angle of the Sun takes us on a journey through three decades in Jan's life. We meet four of her loves, all played by Kitchen Theatre Company Assistant Artistic Director, Jesse Bush: There's Andy, her first love, who she meets in her freshman year of college in 1966; Carter, a photographer whose southern drawl and fiery spirit turn her world upside down some years later; Seth, a more conventional partner with whom she banters and spars but never really connects, and then Toby, an old friend from college who drops back into her life years later.
