Bryan Putnam

Bryan Putnam was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on August 31, 1966. Today Bryan is a produced playwright, composer and performer. A member of AEA, he has performed all over the country in roles such as Leading Man Adam in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Jasper in Drood, Dr. Neville Craven and Albert Lennox in The Secret Garden, Kodaly in She Loves Me, Jigger in Carousel, Christian in Cyrano de Bergerac, Delmount in The Miss Firecracker Contest, Riff-Raff in The Rocky Horror Show, El Gallo in The Fantasticks, Cinderella's Prince/ Wolf in Into The Woods and most recently Bobby in Company.

Bryan is a vocal coach and runs a studio from his home. He also serves as musical director for City Stage, a thriving theatre in downtown Wilmington, which has gained the reputation of the most progressive theatre company in town. Recent musical directing jobs have included A Chorus Line, The Rocky Horror Show, Company and Into The Woods.

Early in his carreer he composed a song for the 50th Anniversay of the Raleigh Little Theatre, where he had "grown up" in the theatre. From there the music hasn't stopped. In 1996 his musical "mannekin" saw it's World Premiere at the Hannah Block Theatre in Wilmington, NC. Many other songs have been written and performed along the way, most written for benefit performances in the various towns he has called home.

"Trouble in Shameland" marks the birth of not only a new musical, but a new production company, EMPYREproductions,LLC, which Bryan started with his business partner and friend, Melissa Garno, a company that is dedicated to artistic excellence as well as community awareness. Recently he has scored music for David Sedaris' "Santaland Diaries" and The Diviners. A new musical, "The Toymaker", is underway and was workshopped in 2005.
